BECOMING A REFEREE see also TRAINING COURSES

To become a qualified Referee you need to take a National Foundation Course. This is a course marked by the RFU but taught and administered by your local Referees Society. To Referee under 7 - 12 continuum rugby you also need a Mini-Midi Certificate.

If you are refereeing under 18 or younger players you must also have a clear certificate from the CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) in the interests of child safety.

The course and exam takes around 10 hours to complete and is held over three or four evenings or a weekend. Course cost between £30 and £50.

This then establishes you as an ungraded Referee. To become graded you need to join a society, like North Mids, and be assessed by one of our watchers and through the return of Club cards that are filled out by the captain or coach of the teams that you referee.

For further information on joining please contact Dave Thomas on 01159 499954.

For further information on Foundation Courses please contact Allan Hughes on 01902 882545 or see Training Courses
